If you’re new here, I’m Madi. Madisun Gray was born out of a desire to share my own story towards a simpler life. Even with two small children, our home is much more peaceful than it was seven years ago when we were first married. By having less stuff, I find myself with more time to do what matters most to me.

My Story
If you followed me on Instagram back then, it probably looked like we were living the All-American dream; high school sweethearts all grown up and living in a remodeled little home in the suburbs with a healthy, newborn baby girl. My husband had a job he loved that also allowed me to stay home full time with our baby (my dream come true) and quit my job as a wedding photographer.
Our life was perfect and all was happening exactly the way everyone said it should. Pretty quickly though, it didn’t feel the way I thought it would.
I couldn’t keep up. I remember thinking, who cares if we have a home that feels good to come home to? Why even bother cleaning up, organizing, or trying if it’s just going to be a mess again tomorrow?
Life with kids is chaos right?
“You blink and it’s over.”
“The days are long but the years are short.”
Then I read (and by read I mean listened on Audible all in one day) Joshua Becker’s book, Minimalist Home and it opened my eyes to another way.
“All that clutter used to be money and all that money used to be time.”

It was slow to move out from under the mountain of clutter I had created for myself, but over the next year, my husband and I slowly went through our material possessions room by room, closet by closet confronting the emotional baggage hidden in some of them and processing through it.
Over the last 5 years, what started as a tactic to get my house in order has overflowed into all the parts of our life and has become a tool to help us figure out what really matters to us in our life.
I hope that my story inspires you to simplify, slow down and get back to your roots, whatever they are.
